How is PAWS boarding different from a kennel?
At PAWS, your dog stays in a real home with a person they already know — not in a cage at a facility. During the day they enjoy the full daycare program (pack walks, play groups, enrichment). At night they sleep comfortably in a PAWS Pro's home. It's the opposite of a traditional kennel.
Who are the PAWS Pros?
PAWS Pros are current or former PAWS Dog Daycare staff members. They are rigorously trained in dog behavior and already know the dogs in our pack. Every PAWS Pro is insured under our business insurance.
Can I meet the PAWS Pro before my dog's stay?
Yes — it's part of our process. Once we match you with a Pro for your requested dates, they'll reach out directly so you can get acquainted, discuss your dog's needs, and feel completely confident before the stay begins.
Are PAWS Pros insured?
Yes. Every PAWS Pro is comprehensively covered by PAWS Dog Daycare's business insurance — both inside our facility and when boarding in their own homes.
Will my dog be left alone during boarding?
Your dog is always with someone. During the day they're at PAWS daycare with pack walks, supervised play, and potty breaks. In the evening they go to the PAWS Pro's home for rest and personal attention — one-on-one care in a real home.
Can I request the same PAWS Pro for future stays?
Yes, and we encourage it. Availability isn't always guaranteed, but we do our best to match you with your preferred Pro. If they're unavailable, another equally qualified Pro will provide the same standard of care.
What happens if there's an emergency during my dog's stay?
PAWS Pros are backed by a full team. If something happens to your designated Pro, another qualified PAWS Pro steps in seamlessly. For routine care we use Downtown Animal Clinic; for emergencies, Western Veterinary Specialist and Emergency Centre on 10th Ave SW.
